Jigsaw’s team was selected to create a secondary access point for an active underground coal mine located in Pike County, KY. The project brought with it many challenges: It involved controlled blasting near active underground mining and within 100 feet of an active railroad and a highway, was located immediately adjacent to and beneath a large stream culvert and sediment pond, and was also near office buildings and other nearby structures. The site conditions thus required all work to be performed within a highly confined space and under intense regulatory scrutiny.
Jigsaw developed a critical-path process, working with the client’s engineers and regulatory officials to deliver a quality project in a safe and timely manner.
